Great first block set
My daughter has been chewing on this block set since she was about 5 months old. I'm not worried about them going in her mouth because Plan Toys uses non toxic dyes. The primary colors have something in them to make a noise when shaken the secondary colors have a piece of fabric on the outside for texture and the whitish blocks have a magnifying glass kaleidescope or mirror. My daughter has noticed the noise and shakes them near her head. She hasn't done much with the textured blocks (besides chew). She loves when I stack them tall so she can knock them down. She bangs them off one another to make a knocking noise or throws them on the floor. She has learned she can crawl around with one in her hand for a mobile toy. It's great because I can always hear her and know when she is on the move. Just a warning some of the colors rub off on light color walls. They are about 1 1/4 inches square.
